Frequently asked questions
1. How do you get hot
water?
We have a water heater in the van
2. Do you recycle the
water?
No
3. Why are you more expensive than grooming
shops?
Because in a grooming shop one groomer can
do twice as many dogs. This is because they usually have a bather wash your
dog and then your dog is put in a dryer cage. With Heidi's one professional
groomer works on your dog from start to finish and your dog is dried by a
hand dryer instead.
4. Do you have a limit on the size of dogs
you can do?
No, we have done dogs that weigh over 200
pounds.
5. My dog can't jump up into the van, how
do you get them in?
We pick them up and put them in the van.
Yes we are able to lift them. Like I said we have done dogs over 200 pounds
6. My dog can't stand and he usually can't
walk after going to the groomers. can you do something to avoid
this.
Yes, we groom your dog while he sits down.
7. My dog bites and every groomer I take
him to refuses to do him again, will you do him?
Yes, I frequently do dogs that grooming shops
refuse to do because of behavior problems. Dogs that bite, are very nervous
and just about any other problem you can think of
8. Do you do
cats?
at this time we do not do cats.
9. What are some of the services you offer
that others charge extra for as a "premium service" and why?
Things like teeth brushing, medicated baths
& Conditioners (limited to what I have on hand) & furminator are just some
of the things I usually don't charge extra for. Usually there will be an
extra charge if there is something that takes a considerable amount of extra
time to do. I don't charge extra for conditioners because they reduce the
amount of time necessary for brushing. I usually don't charge extra for the
furminator because it is often faster than brushing.
10. What are anal glands and what is the
deal with them?
Anal glands are scent glands inside the dogs rectum. When your dog is
scooting his butt across your carpet he is expressing them on your carpet.
This is also often the reason why a clean dog smells shortly after being
bathed. In some dogs they can become infected or impacted. This is a common
problem in smaller breeds. Most groomers if they do them at all will only do
them on small breeds. It is a very gross process and in my experience
most groomers try to avoid doing it.11. How often do you get bit?
I've been bit where it broke the skin 3 times in the past 20 years.
12. Why don't you use perfume?
I do but only when asked to. I believe that you can't really tell how
clean your dog is if there is something masking any possible odors. If you
put your nose right up to your dog the only thing I think you should be able
to smell is the light odor the shampoo leave behind. This way your know your
dog is thoroughly cleaned. All dogs are shampooed twice as the directions on
nearly all shampoo suggests and if they still smell then a deodorizing
shampoo is used.
13 Do you offer medicated shampoos?
Yes we have a few general purpose shampoos. If you dog has an issue we
suggest getting a shampoo from your vet that will treat a known diagnosed
issue. We will gladly use a shampoo provided by you if you wish. |
